    Harun Farocki

    By Dorothea Holloway | August 1, 2014

Harun Farocki starb am 30. Juli 2014 im Alter von 70 Jahren. KINO – German Film No. 33 und No. 37 haben wir über ihn berichtet:

Bilder der Welt und Inschrift des Krieges by Harun Farocki (Images of the World and Inscription of War) was programmed at the Edinburgh festival and in the German Series at the Berlinale. Farocki’s films always force the viewer to reflect on what he sees. Prod/Dir/Script of the film essay with documentary elements was made by Harun Farocki, Camera: Ingo Kratisch, more in KINO N0: 33 (1989).

Also with Ingo Kratisch on Camera Harun Farocki (Prod/Dir/Script) made the documentary Leben/BRD (Life/FRG, 1990). For the packed 90 minutes, this “German training session”, Farocki’s Leben/BRD, comes across as all too short-winded and thoroughly entertaining – “Scherz, Satire, Ironie und tiefere Bedeutung”. In other words, Germans dearly love to rehearse, to train, and they’re never happier than when they’re playing “Lehrmeister”! More in KINO No: 37, (1990).
