    nordmedia Festival Landscape

    The major film festivals in Lower Saxony and Bremen offer an important platform for the international cinema. Conceived as film festivals for the public, they present collectively an interesting forum for the German film market. The festival landscape is broad and rich in diverse facets. Since 2001, nordmedia has been supporting this important and far-reaching regional festival work. The festivals are noteworthy for their specific focal points.
    The European Media Art Festival (EMAF) in Osnabrück presents up-to-date trends in the international media markets. Its focus is on film, video and performance, with attention given as well to multi-medial installations, DVD- and Internet projects.     The International Filmfest Emden-Norderney is recognized as the most important showcase for British cinema in Germany. In addition, the festival is known for its German-language film series as well as for its number of major funded awards. www.filmfest-emden.de (4-11 June 2008)

    The rich-in-tradition Internationale Filmfest Braunschweig programs contemporary European films and international cinema. The focus in Braunschweig is on the theme of Music and Film. www.filmfest-braunschweig.de (6-11 November 2007)

    The Internationale Filmfest Oldenburg concentrates entirely on the international independent film, with a special focus given to German and American independents. www.filmfest-oldenburg.de (September 2008)

    The up-and-coming Internationales Film Festival Hannover is specifically dedicated to new generation filmmakers from the whole world up to 27 years of age. It programs in the competition new and creative film productions and video works. www.up-and-coming.de (22-25 November 2007)

    The Sehpferdchen-Kinderfilmfest Hannover shows new attractive German and European films for children. Above all, the festival aims to attract quite young audiences, with children accompanied to the screenings by parents or teachers.  www.filmfest-sehpferdchen.de (Spring 2008)
