Glückwunsch zum 14. August

Mit welcher Freude hätte Ron Holloway Wim Wenders zum 70. Geburtstag gratuliert. Vielleicht hätten wir eine Spezialausgabe von KINO – German Film nur für Wim gemacht!
Ron war ein Verehrer des in aller Filmwelt anerkannten Filmemachers Wim Wenders. Er hatte einen Stammplatz in unserer Broschüre: In KINO No: 10 (Spring 1983), No: 12 (Autumn 1983), No: 15 (Summer 1984), No: 26 (1987), No: 37 (1990), No: 44 (1991) und No: 51 (1992).
In KINO No: 51 schrieb Ron Holloway über In weiter Ferne, so nah! (Faraway, so close!). Der Bericht begann so:
Ferried directly from the Geyer-Werke lab into the projection booth of the Palais des Festivals at Cannes for its world premiere, Wim Wender’s In weiter Ferne, so nah! was on that score alone a competition entry of high expectations. Previously, Wenders had won here the Golden Palm for Paris, Texas (1984) and Best Director for Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire) (1989). Thus, when he pulled off a hat trick by winning the Special Jury Prize for Faraway, so close!, festival veterans noted this was the first time in Riviera history that a director has been awarded all three major prizes in succession.
Lieber Wim Wenders, Sie sind noch so jung, Sie können noch wunderbare Spielfilme machen. Herzliche Wünsche zum Geburtstag von Dorothea Holloway auch im Namen von Ron!
